Matt Ethington, President and CEO

Matt Ethington
Matt Ethington is a successful serial entrepreneur and seasoned professional with nearly two decades of experience in the healthcare and IT space. Prior to ChronicCareIQ, he founded and led the award-winning simplifyMD which grew from concept to managing more than 45 Million electronic medical records for doctors on two continents, including the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere.   He has held sales and executive leadership roles in healthcare IT and telemedicine firms. Ethington has served on the Dell OEM Advisory Council as well as the Metro Atlanta Chamber and is an active member of the Atlanta CEO Council. He is a TEPR award winner and a former faculty member of the Medical Records Institute. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska.

Eric Eschenbach, Chief Technology Officer

With 20 years of software experience, Eschenbach has built both web and mobile applications, using .Net, Java, and HTML5. He has extensive experience with computer languages, automated testing, and integration. As an entrepreneur, he has founded multiple software and mobile app companies, leveraging the latest technology in cloud computing and agile, lean methodologies. Prior to joining ChronicCareIQ, he designed and implemented computer platforms at companies such as BellSouth/AT&T, Allure Global, Inc. and Sterling BackCheck. He graduated with Honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on CPU design and embedded computer systems.

Don Schmidt, Advisor

Don Schmidt has over 25 years of executive experience with health systems, physician organizations, insurance companies, long-term care, post-acute care, and managed care organizations. He has extensive experience in both Medicare and Medicaid managed care plans and has held executive leadership positions with health plans. He currently owns and operates Pharma Concepts, LLC, a pharmaceutical purchasing model with physician partners in several markets. Prior to Pharma Concepts, Schmidt was the executive VP business development with Renaissance RX, helping them become one of the largest toxicology and pharmacogenomics laboratories in the nation. He also served as CEO with United Healthcare. Prior to that he held the position of COO and regional VP with Wellcare. Schmidt has held several board positions, including with the Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association and Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition. Don received his Master’s in Health Administration from University of Arkansas.
